| VAH 130 Understanding the Visual Arts |

An introduction to the theory of art, its vocabulary, structure and context. The course deals with problems of meaning, visual perception and formal structure of the visual arts as well as with the function of galleries and museums, and the role of patrons and critics. Contemporary critical methodology is stressed. |
