Writing 207F/G Writing and Reading in an Electronic Environment

A consideration of the ways in which electronic technology challenges our traditional understanding of textual production and reception: i.e. ideas of the book and copyright, the roles of author and reader, and the conventions of structure and linear prose. By completing a series of weekly assignments as well as one major collaborative project, students will develop skills that will allow them to create hypertextual documents, participate in cyber-culture in a discerning manner, and critically evaluate the design and content of electronic texts.

Antirequisite: The former MIT 207F/G.

Prerequisite: At least 70% in Writing 101F/G or permission of the Department of English.

3 computer lab hours, half course.
