FOUR-YEAR BA HONORS MATHEMATICS WITH ECONOMICS MINOR

Admission Requirements

A complete first year program of which three courses must be designated as principal courses. These principal courses must include one course chosen from Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027, and must also include Economics 020 or 021.

Linear Algebra 040a/b is strongly recommended.

Second, Third and Fourth Years

The following must be completed by the end of fourth year: Linear Algebra 040a/b or the former Mathematics 202a, plus Mathematics 203b; Calculus 250a/b plus 251a/b, or the former Mathematics 204a plus 205b; Mathematics 208a, 207a/b; one half-course in Mathematics numbered 200 or above, if Linear Algebra 040a/b was taken; Mathematics 302a, 304a/b, 305b or Differential Equations 215a, Mathematics 306a/b, 307b, 308a/b (or the former Mathematics 303b); Statistical Sciences 358b or a half course in Mathematics numbered 300 or above, or one full or equivalent Mathematics course numbered 300 or above if Differential Equations 215a was chosen in lieu of Mathematics 305b.

The following Economics courses must be taken in the sequence shown:

Second Year

Economics 260a/b, 261a/b

Third Year

Economics 220a/b, 221a/b, 222a/b, 223a/b

Fourth Year

One of Economics 320a/b, 382a/b, 388a/b plus three additional half-courses in Economics at the 300-or 400-level

Note: To satisfy prerequisite requirements, the above courses and half-courses must be taken in an appropriate order. Students should consult both departments before registering.

Subsidiary Courses

Sufficient courses or half-courses to bring the total number of courses taken in each year up to five courses.
