Admission Requirements

Principal Courses

Computer Science 025a or 026a/b, and 027a/b
Statistical Sciences 023a/b+
One full course or equivalent, chosen from the following: Calculus 050a/b and either 051a/b (minimum mark of 60%) or 081a/b (minimum mark of 70%), or Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027.
Linear Algebra 040a/b*

Subsidiary Courses

Two courses (of which at least one full course must be from Arts or Social Science)

*If Linear Algebra 040a/b is not taken in first year, it must be completed prior to the beginning of third year. It is strongly recommended that students take Statistical Sciences 024a/b.

+ If Statistical Sciences 023a/b is not taken in first year, students should consult with an academic counselor in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences prior to entering second year.

Second Year

Statistical Sciences 257a
Statistical Sciences 259a/b plus one of 258b or 260b, or the former Statistical Sciences 255
Computer Science 208a/b, 210a/b, 211a/b**
Either Computer Science 209a/b or 212a/b/y**
Calculus 280a/b and 281a/b, or equivalent, or the former Applied Mathematics 200, or the former Mathematics 204a and one of the former Mathematics 205b or 285b. (See Department for equivalents)

Subsidiary Course

One half course *

Linear Algebra 040a/b must be taken prior to the beginning of third year, with a minimum mark of 60%. If Statistical Sciences 023a/b is not taken in first year, students should consult with an academic counsellor in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences prior to entering second year.

Third Year

Statistical Sciences 325a/b, 357a, 358b, 359a/b
Mathematics 222a
Either Computer Science 209a/b or 212a/b/y, whichever was not taken in second year**
Three Computer Science half-courses numbered 300 or above

Subsidiary Courses

One half course

**Note: For students who have completed the former Computer Science 201, both it and Mathematics 223b must be substituted as principal courses for Computer Science 210a/b, 211a/b, 212a/b/y.

Fourth Year

Principal Courses

Five half-courses from Statistical Sciences numbered 310 or above, of which at least one must be 346a/b, 353a/b, or 361a/b
Three half-courses from Computer Science numbered 300 or above
