Completion of five full-course equivalents including an 020-level English course and two other courses as principal courses. French or a foreign language is strongly recommended for students who intend to apply to graduate schools or professional programs. Students who have obtained at least 60% in an 020-level English course, with a 70% average in their principal courses and no failure will be admitted to the program. Students with an average of 65%-69% in their principal courses may be admitted to the program with the permission of the Department. Counselling is mandatory for students with an average between 65%-69% and strongly recommended for all other students.

Program

For the Honors degree in English Language and Literature, a student must have twenty full-course equivalents; ten of these will be in Honors English and will include English 215a/b and English 204F/G(taken in second year), English 316F/G and at least one full-course equivalent at the 400-level.
