VERBAL ART, PERFORMANCE AND SPEECH PLAY
This course examines song lyrics, comedy performances, spoken word poetry and other forms of verbal art and speech play. Students analyze displays of linguistic creativity and skill in recorded and live performances, considering social and cultural contexts. Black artists, performers and genres particular to the African diaspora are emphasized.
