Family Studies 2220A/B
IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE FAMILIES
This course focuses on visible minority immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker families, examining challenges and factors that facilitate or hinder them in the process of settlement and integration into Canadian society. Issues considered include family structures, childrearing, parenting, gender roles, and intergenerational relations. Immigration history, policies, and programs/services related to families in Canada will also be discussed.
Antirequisite(s): The former Family Studies 2225.
Prerequisite(s): Any Family Studies 1000-level course or permission of the instructor.
