In this course, students examine how storytelling contributes to democratic societies by fostering empathetic citizens, critical discourse, and multivocality. It includes: 1) multi-disciplinary perspectives on democracy as narrative/discourse, 2) fictional representations of totalitarian and democratic societies, and 3) discussions of contemporary issues such as free speech, censorship, and fake news.
