THE NOVEL
A survey of the novel, chiefly English and American, but including Continental texts, from Cervantes to the present day. Exploration of the nature of this genre is combined with critical examination of each work. It is wise to read as many of the texts as possible before the course begins.
Antirequisite(s): The former English 2500E.
Prerequisite(s): At least 60% in any 1000-level or above āEā or combination of two 1000-level or above āF/Gā courses from any department in the faculties of Arts and Humanities, Information and Media Studies (FIMS), or Music, or from the Department of Anthropology, the Department of History, the Department of Political Science, or permission of the Department.
