This course surveys the history of the Mediterranean from medieval to modern times, emphasizing political and economic themes. Topics include: the unique history of the Mediterranean; geographic factors; navigation and trade; city states and trade centers; Christianity and Islam in the Mediterranean; imperialism and colonialism; political composition and disintegration.

Prerequisite(s): Registration in third year or above, any module.
