THE VIRGIN QUEEN: ELIZABETH I AND HER WORLD


Queen Elizabeth I, often referred to as the Virgin Queen, is the most studied Briton of the early modern period. Using primary and secondary sources, including her own self-representation and later uses of her image and memory, this seminar examines Elizabeth as a leader, a woman, and a queen.

Antirequisite(s): History 4496F/G if taken on Main Campus in 2024-25, the former History 3440E, the former History 3441F/G.

Prerequisite(s): Registration in third year or above, any module.
