Admission Requirements


Acceptance into the School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities and completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses including Arts and Humanities 1020E with a minimum grade of 75%, plus 2.0 additional courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

2.0 courses: Arts and Humanities 2200E, Arts and Humanities 2220F/G, Arts and Humanities 2230F/G.
0.5 course: Arts and Humanities 3380Y.
1.5 courses from: Arts and Humanities  3390F/G-3393F/G.
2.0 courses from: Arts and Humanities 4410E, Arts and Humanities  4490F/G-4493F/G, Arts and Humanities 4494W/X.

Notes

  1. 1.0 course is required to fulfill the language requirement for graduation: French 1900E or French 1910 or another non-English language course at the 2000 level or above.
  2. 1.0 non-Arts and Humanities course may, with permission of the Director of the School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities, be substituted for 1.0 of the 6.0 courses listed above.
  3. Students considering this Major should be advised to take a 1000-level language course in their first year if they do not already have a Grade 12U level non-English language.
  4. This module cannot be taken on its own. It must be completed in conjunction with another Major or Honours Specialization module in an Honours BA degree in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

A minimum cumulative modular average of 75% with no mark less than 60% in the courses of the module and a passing grade in each option.
