Certificate CERTIFICATE IN PRACTICAL GERMAN
Faculty of Arts and Humanities - Languages and Cultures (formerly Modern Languages and Literatures)



Open to all students in the University, the Certificate aims to develop skills in practical German.
Any undergraduate student may apply for admission, subject to prerequisites.

Admission Requirements


Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 course from German 1030 with a mark of at least 60%. Students with Grade 12 U German will begin the certificate with German 2200. A student may not pursue both a Certificate in Practical German and a German module.

from: German 2215F/G, German 2220A/B, German 3321A/B, German 3323A/B, German 4400A/B.

Note: At least 2.0 of the 3.0 courses must be taken at Western.


Progression


Progression Requirements
To progress and complete the program, students must achieve and maintain a minimum average of 70% in the required courses. If a course in the Certificate program is waived by the department on the basis of existing language proficiency, other German courses will have to be taken so that the total number of course credits is 3.0.
