Course Description

Medical Biophysics 303 Biophysical Analysis

Applying methods of physics, engineering, and mathematics to biological mechanisms. Emphasis on modelling, and on problem solving. Special topics include: biological feedback the pupillary reflex, and control of cortisol release, oxygenation of the cornea, video analysis of red cell distribution in the capillaries.

Antirequisite: The former Biology 303.
Prerequisites: Calculus 050a/b plus one of 051a/b or 081a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027, and Physics 020, 024 or 025. Open to second-year students with at least a 78% average in first year.
2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory/tutorial hours.
