FRENCH STUDIES

All courses are taught in French unless otherwise stated.

Note: Students who have not previously taken a French Language course in the University wishing to enrol in any of French 002, 010, 020E, 021, 035a/b or 045a/b must take a French Language Placement Test administered by the Department to determine competency in basic skills. Students will be counselled on the basis of test results and placed accordingly. Students may take the test after registration. Students presenting Grade 12U French will normally be placed in French 020E or 021 and perhaps French 035a/b and/or 045a/b. Some students may be placed at a higher level than French 020E / 021 / 035a/b / 045a/b.

Note: French 273 and 383 may not be taken concurrently. Neither second-year translation course (French 273 or 277) may be taken concurrently with either third-year translation course (French 383 or 387).

Please note that all students must successfully complete:
a) 2.0 essay courses, 1.0 of which must be senior (#100-499). These essay courses must be completed through the University of Western Ontario.
b) At least 1.0 course from each of the three categories A, B and C.
