This course examines Jewish women artists and patrons of the twentieth century to understand their contributions to the visual arts in the decades preceding and following the Holocaust. Women's Studies 2157A/B - The Status of Women in Artistic Couples
A look at a variety of political, social, and economic factors relating to women’s status generally, and within the context of the visual arts during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This slide-illustrated course will examine French sculptors Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin, Mexican painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, and Canadian painters Mary Pratt and Christopher Pratt, among others.

This course examines images of women created by women artists from the sixteenth to late twentieth centuries. This interdisciplinary course will examine alternative expressions of female sexuality (queer, lesbian, bisexual, female masculinity, transgendered, intersexed, etc.) through a selection of historical, literary, visual and theoretical texts.
