FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
A mark of 60% or better in one History course at the 020-099 level.
Five senior history courses, at least two of which must be from the 200-series or above. Students may count no more than two history courses from the 180-199 series for history credits. Students wishing to count a non-history course towards a history concentration must receive departmental approval.
Note: Also see AREA OF CONCENTRATION in the PROGRAMS / PROGRESSION section (
).
The Department of History offers numerous courses intended equally for students in the 3-year BA program and 4-year BA honors program. All 200-level courses are open to 3-year history students with an area of concentration in history. Three-year students taking such courses are not required to meet Honors History standards. However, those students who complete honors courses with at least "B" standing will enjoy an advantage should they wish to transfer to the honors program.
Any other honors course may be taken only with the Department's permission, unless otherwise stated in the course description.
After completion of second year, a student who wishes to enter third year as a student in Honors History may be granted honors credit (on the recommendation of the Instructor, approved by the Chair of the Department and the Dean of Social Science) for any History course numbered 100-179 in which the student has performed with distinction (normally 75% or better).
