Course Description

CBE 497 Chemical Process and Plant Design

A design is prepared for a full-scale chemical process. This involves the detailed design of all major pieces of equipment, an estimate of the requirements for new materials and energy, and a calculation of total costs. Problem formulation, alternative design solutions and professional decision making are emphasized.

Antirequisite: The former ES 497

Prerequisites: CBE 304a/b, CBE 317y, CBE 292a/b or the former ES 311a, CBE 313a/b, CBE 314a/b, CBE 315a/b, CBE 316a/b.

Corequisites: CBE 391a/b, CBE 491a/b, Business Administration 299.

1 lecture hour, 7 laboratory hours, One and one-half course.
