FOUR-YEAR BSc HONORS BIOCHEMISTRY AND CHEMISTRY

Admission Requirements

Entry into the 4-year honors degree program occurs at the beginning of the third year and requires that the student has completed year 2 of the Biochemistry and Chemistry program, including Chemistry 251, 253 and 254; Biology 280a and 281b. A 70% average in these courses, with no mark below 60% is required; students failing to meet these criteria will only be admitted to Year 3 of the Honors program by special permission of both the Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Chemistry.

Third Year

Principal Courses

Biology 381a, 382b and 380b
Chemistry 352a plus any three of:Chemistry 351a, 353a, 354b, 362b, 374a
One Biology half-course at the 200- or 300-level

Subsidiary Course

One option course

Note: Chemistry 354b and 374a have pre- and/or corequisite courses in Physics and/or Applied Mathematics. Students wishing to retain the option of entering the fourth year of the Honors Chemistry program should consult the Chemistry Department prior to the selection of option courses.

Fourth Year

Principal Courses

One of: Chemistry 490, Biochemistry 483 or 484, or the former 482
Three of: Biochemistry 400a, 410a, 420b, 430b, 440a, 445a/b, 463b, Microbiology and Immunology 467b
Three Chemistry half-courses at the 300- or 400-level (with a maximum of one at the 300-level)

Subsidiary Course

One course numbered 200 or above from the Faculty of Science
